Welcome To The Disco. This site is a creation to look into the world of nightlife club culture. A culture that is readily dismissed as hedonistic and faddish. But an important part of our culture and history nevertheless. Clubbing culture has became an integral part of our heritage but it wasn't always that way.

The English were the first to pick up on clubbing culture with their all night Northern Soul ballrooms with punters pilled up, dancing relentlessly. The Wigan Casino was even named club of the year in Billboard Magazine. The American club scene severely lagged behind with two exceptions, New York and Chicago. Both of these cities had an underground gay club scene that would create new genres of music and new innovations of the DJ. Over the next few decades the DJ and the culture they brought with it would evolve into a worldwide phenomena. A proper DJ industry has grown out of what once was a gig closer to the bus boy than the bartender.

What we're trying to do here at Tothedisco.com is bring all the necessary elements of DJ culture together to build a community of eclectic underground DJs. We're bringing you the most interesting DJ mixes, informative articles, up to date event info and mp3s on our blog, and the most important thing of all, dope records!
